From A Little Con Descending — a Marshal of Magic urban fantasy

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, there lived a group of mischievous magic gnomes. These tiny creatures were known for their love of pranks and their ability to cast powerful spells.

One day, the gnomes learned that a dear friend of theirs, a ghost named Elvis, had been kidnapped by an evil wizard. The wizard had taken Elvis to his castle, deep in the Dark Forest, where he planned to use the ghost’s powers for his own nefarious purposes.

The gnomes knew they had to act fast to save their friend. They gathered together and began to brainstorm ideas on how to retrieve Elvis from the wicked wizard.

After much discussion, they came up with a plan. One of the gnomes, a wise old fellow named Gnu, would sneak into the wizard’s castle and cast a spell to transport Elvis back to safety.

The other gnomes were skeptical, but Gnu was determined. He knew that the spell he had in mind was risky, but he also knew that it was the only way to save their friend.

So, on the night of the full moon, Gnu set off for the Dark Forest, armed with his magic wand and a bag of magical ingredients. He made his way through the forest, avoiding all manner of dangers, until he finally reached the wizard’s castle.
