I miss drip coffee.
I’ve been drinking K-pods since the end of July.
I moved in with my brother for a few months, and he knew I liked coffee.
And pointed out I drank as much as our dad.
That’s a lot of java.
He surprised me by going out to get a new Kuerig and a box of Folgers.
Folgers is what dad drank, and what my brother learned to drink.
The gesture of it made me grateful.
Lucky.
So I’ve been ordering k-pods from Amazon, which are good.
But coffee is like pizza.
Or sex.
There is no such thing as bad.
Just different.
Sometimes better.
Sometimes perfect.
I can’t remember which philosopher I read that said, a life spent in search of a perfect cherry blossom would be a life well spent.
It goes for cheeseburgers.
And pizza.
And maybe sex.
And definitely coffee.
A life spent searching for perfect moments is a life well spent.
I do it outside in nature.
I do it in days when the clouds cover the horizon and rain drizzles the sky gray.
I do it in driving, though it’s harder to find that.
I try to do it daily.
Find perfect moments.
What did you think I was talking about you dirty bird!
Sometimes, the temperature is just right, the blend just right, the sip just right.
And it is a perfect cup of coffee.
Then it passes and the hunt begins again.
With K-pods and drip, with latte and con leche.
Maybe it’s not quite a life well spent, but it is a morning well done, and if life is made up of perfect mornings, well…
