You want how much?

He wrote the words in an email but I could hear him say it.

I’ve heard it before, so I know the tone.

Heck, I’ve used the tone before.

Plumbers. Mechanics.

Any time we get surprised by a price.

As if the work they do isn’t worth it.

Like it’s something subjective.

For me, it’s for a lot of things.

Cars.

I think of how much I would pay for a used car or truck.

Then look at prices that car lots are asking.

It brings to mind a question.

Are you out of your mind?

And this was before the screwed up supply and demand market we’re in right now.

60k for a pick up truck?

You want how much?!?

When I price my books, I try to be reasonable.

I think of what I’d pay for a book I want, and price it the same.

I’m not a typical book buyer, I’m on the side that buys more books.

A typical book buyer might spend $20 a year on a hardcover, $10 on a paperback. ($19.99 and $9.99)
