My 10,000 Readers Plan

A few years ago, I had a plan to reach 5,000 people on my email list.

I wish I could go back and speak to young naive me about segmentation and listbuilding again.

Because even though I reached my goal, they were divided over four genres.

Science Fiction, Post Apocalyptic, Urban Fantasy and Thriller.

And while there was some cross over, it muddled the waters of the Amazon algorithm I was trying to influence to show me to more of the readers who buy my stuff.

I should have divided the list up better, or focused on one list to build first.

Because with 10,000 engaged readers, it becomes a lot easier to be a full time author.

During the business planning for my 4Q, I wanted to share an old list of steps I built that worked well to reach 3000 on the list and then 5,000 total.

I plan to use it to hit that number by the end of the year.

I hope you steal it and can use it too.

  1. Write the story — this seems like the hard part

2. Build your readers

3. Edit the story

4. Order the cover

5. Format for ebook
