The Magic Word You Should Use Instead of Or

The world is mostly either or.

That’s what the news tells us.

That’s what our echo chambers bring back to us.

Either you are with us…

Or against us.

There is no gray.

No in between.

Far right.

Far left.

Nothing in the middle.

No thought.

No balance.

A whole lot of nothing.

That’s what the world looks like right now.

But what if we didn’t?

What if we lived in a world of AND…

A world where you can support the 2nd Amendment AND still want stringent background checks for gun owners.

A world where you can buy an AR-15 assault rifle for recreational use AND require you be 21 to purchase (like alcohol) and maybe licensed (like you are for a two ton killing machine you use every day.)

Because in a world of either or, you have been manipulated.

The world isn’t getting worse, despite what the news and a now dead Rush Limbaugh wanted you to believe.

Every statistic shows a trending down crime line since the 70’s.

The news just makes it seem bad.

The parrots in Congress want to keep you scared so you will keep electing them.

The people who make guns want to keep you scared so you can keep buying them.

But the danger is a marketing ploy.

You are more likely to be killed by a car than you are a gun.

You are more likely to be killed in your home by an accidental fall than you are to be killed by a “crazy” criminal with a gun.

Because the truth of it is, most people don’t put themselves in situations where they are going to be killed by a random stranger.

It’s random, which is why it makes the news and a big deal is made about it.

You are more likely to be killed by someone you know with a gun.
