Where are all the birds?
I can hear the birds singing.
I just can’t see them.
It’s like they are hidden.
And I wonder if it’s because it got so cold for so long.
Remember a month ago?
When a deep freeze slithered across the ground last February, I took a video of birds huddled on the front porch hiding from the snow.
Now they’re gone.
My back yard borders a lake and last year, during the spring, there were hundreds of birds flitting and flying in the back yard.
Robin’s nested in the crook of a couple of branches on a small tree next to my driveway.
Momma Robin and Daddy Robin buzzed me every time I mowed, and I don’t start mowing until April.
But I read the deep freeze did a number on the bird population, catching our feathered friends by surprise.
While I’m no ornithologist, I don’t see as many birds anymore.
What a world without them.
I do hear them though, songbirds singing in the morning, chirping in the rising sun.
It’s a pretty effective alarm clock.
And maybe I am jumping the gun on the timing.
